Overnight I-80 lane closures have begun on eastern McCarran Boulevard (State Route 659) in Sparks as the Nevada Department of Transportation repaves a section of the highway.
- Beginning September 15 through late-October, intermittent overnight single lane closures on I-80 will take place between 7:00 p.m. – 5:00a.m. Sunday evenings through Friday mornings on sections of McCarran Boulevard from East Nugget Avenue to East Greg Street. One lane will remain open in each direction at all times. Speed limits will be reduced to 45 mph.
- The eastbound Interstate 80 (I-80) off-ramp to McCarran Boulevard will be closed overnight between 11:00 p.m. – 4:00a.m. Sunday evenings through Friday mornings September 19 – September 27. Marked detour will be available. Project schedule subject to change.
More than three inches of aging roadway surface will be removed and repaved as a cost-effective way to resurface and preserve the roadway for a smoother and safer drive for the as many as 30,000 drivers who travel the section of McCarran Boulevard daily.
In future years, drivers will see traffic signage, signal, pedestrian accessibility and other improvements on eastern McCarran Boulevard near the intersection of Interstate 80.
