Utah DOT: Expect Delays on I-80 in Salt Lake City This Weekend

Utah I-80 Traffic | Utah I-80 Construction | I-80 Exit Guide

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) advises drivers to plan for travel delays on westbound I-80 between 2300 East and 1300 East in Salt Lake City this weekend while crews repair potholes in the pavement caused by winter weather conditions. Westbound I-80 will be reduced to one lane in this area beginning tomorrow at 7 p.m. and continuing through Sunday, Jan. 16, at 10 p.m., weather permitting.

Drivers should plan ahead for moderate travel delays, especially those with time-sensitive trips, and consider alternate routes such as I-215 to I-15.

UDOT is also planning similar lane closures on westbound I-80 next Sunday, Jan. 23, to continue pavement repairs in this area. Moving forward, crews will continue to monitor the pavement condition on I-80 in the work zone and complete repairs as weather and materials allow.

As part of the I-80 & I-215 Renewed project, I-80 is being reconstructed between 1300 East and 2300 East. The existing pavement is being replaced with new concrete, and a new lane is being added to eastbound I-80 between 1300 East and 2300 East. Crews are rebuilding bridges along I-80 at 1300 East, 1700 East and 2000 East, and widening the eastbound bridge over 2300 East to accommodate the new eastbound lane. The project is also reconstructing the I-215 east belt between 3300 South and 4500 South.

Construction schedules are weather-dependent and subject to change.
