The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that it closed the rest areas at mile marker 194 along I-80 eastbound and westbound in Clinton County so it can replace the existing water and sewage treatment facilities and plumbing features.
PennDOT anticipates this work taking until early November to complete. While these facilities are closed, the nearest open rest areas in either direction are at mile marker 220 in Montour County and mile marker 147 in Centre County.
Overall work includes demolition and replacement of the existing treatment plants, construction of their replacements, and various site improvements, including sidewalks, chain link fencing, site utilities such as potable water distribution pipelines, electrical power distribution facilities, and related work. Work also includes replacing existing plumbing features, such as toilets, sinks, and water fountains.
