The I-80 eastbound Express lanes are scheduled to be closed after the Garden State Parkway through the George Washington Bridge this weekend for priority repairs to the I-80 eastbound Express Bridge over Green Street in Hackensack, Bergen County.
Beginning at 9:00 p.m. Friday, October 3 until 5:00 a.m. Monday, October 6, the I-80 eastbound Express lanes are scheduled to be closed after the Garden State Parkway with all traffic directed to the Local lanes (toward the George Washington Bridge Lower Level).
Motorists wishing to take the George Washington Bridge Upper Level will still be able to do so after I-80 merges onto I-95.
The I-80 eastbound Express lane closure is necessary to make priority structural repairs to the Bridge over Green Street in Hackensack. This is the first of three weekends in which the I-80 eastbound Express lanes are expected to be closed. NJDOT will provide advanced notice before any other closures.
The work is part of a $13 million maintenance structural steel and aluminum repair contract that will make repairs in various locations in Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris, Passaic, Sussex, Union, and Warren counties.
The precise timing of work is subject to change due to weather and other factors.
