The Iowa Department of Transportation (IowaDOT) wants to let motorists know about three upcoming nighttime closures on eastbound I-80 between Grand Prairie Parkway (exit 118) and the Southwest Mixmaster (I-80/I-35/I-235).
Crews need to close eastbound I-80 so they can work on grading and concrete pavement work that will begin at 8:30 p.m. and end at 5:00 a.m. on the following nights.
- Friday, November 14 until Saturday, November 15
- Monday, November 17 until Tuesday, November 18
- Tuesday, November 18 until Wednesday, November 19
If you want to reach southbound I-35 or eastbound I-235 during this closure you will follow a marked detour route using Grand Prairie Parkway (exit 118), University Avenue, and southbound I-35.
You will travel on Valley West Drive/100th Street and U.S. 6/Hickman Road to reach northbound I-35/eastbound I-80 during the closure.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
