The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) reports that two lanes on I-80 westbound and the I-80 westbound Exit 60 ramp to Route 20 northbound are scheduled to be closed and detoured tomorrow night for bridge repairs in Paterson, Passaic County. In addition, the River Drive ramp onto I-80 westbound in Elmwood Park, Bergen County is scheduled to be closed at the same time. This is a continuation of work that began on Friday, March 27.
I-80 westbound Exit 60 Closure
Beginning at 9 p.m. tomorrow, Friday, June 5 until 7 a.m. Saturday, June 6, the I-80 westbound Exit 60 ramp to Route 20 northbound is scheduled to be closed and detoured for bridge repairs. In addition, the two right lanes on I-80 westbound between Exit 62/Garden State Parkway and the Passaic River are also scheduled to be closed at the same time. If work is completed sooner, the Exit 60 ramp will reopen earlier. The following detour will be in place overnight:
I-80 westbound Exit 60 ramp to Route 20 Detour:
- Motorists on I-80 westbound wishing to take the Exit 60 ramp to Route 20 northbound will be directed to continue on I-80 westbound
- Take Exit 58A/B toward Madison Ave/Paterson/Clifton
- Follow signs for Exit 58A/Madison Avenue South/Clifton
- Stay in the far left lane to continue on Beckwith Avenue
- Stay left to take the on ramp to I-80 eastbound
- Take Exit 60 to Route 20/Route 46/Route 21/Hawthorne/Clifton
- Stay left to take the ramp to Route 20 northbound River Drive ramp to I-80 westbound Closure
Beginning at 9:00 p.m. tomorrow, Friday, June 5 until 7 a.m. Saturday, June 6, the River Drive ramp to I-80 westbound is scheduled to be closed and detoured for bridge repairs. If work is completed sooner, the ramp will reopen earlier. The following detour will be in place overnight:
River Drive southbound ramp to I-80 westbound Detour:
- Motorists on River Drive southbound wishing to take the ramp to I-80 westbound will be directed to continue on River Drive southbound
- Take the ramp onto Route 46 eastbound
- Take the ramp onto River Drive north
- Turn left onto Market Street, which crosses the Passaic River
- Stay left to take the ramp onto I-80 westbound
River Drive northbound ramp to I-80 westbound Detour:
- Motorists on River Drive northbound wishing to take the ramp to I-80 westbound will be directed to continue on River Drive northbound
- Turn left onto Market Street, which crosses the Passaic River
- Stay left to take the ramp onto I-80 westbound
The work is part of a $9.3 million maintenance structural steel and aluminum repair contract that will make structural repairs in various locations in Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris, Passaic, Sussex, Union, and Warren counties.
Portable variable message signs are being used to provide advance notification of traffic pattern changes associated with the work. The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors.
