The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) advises motorists that a multi-year reconstruction and resurfacing project continues on I-80 eastbound between just west of the Montour County line and the Route 42 interchange in Hemlock Township, Columbia County, mile markers 228 – 233.
On Friday, April 26, 2024, the contractor will continue reconstruction of the right shoulder which will remain closed for 20 days behind a temporary barrier. Concrete shoulder demolition will occur during the day with no impact to traffic. This work will continue through next week. Work will be performed between the hours of 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
On Sunday, April 28, 2024 through Friday, May 3, 2024, the contractor will continue excavation work and place temporary barrier along the right shoulder. Motorists can expect the right (driving) lane to be restricted where work is being performed. Work will be performed between the hours of 7:00 PM and 6:00 AM.
Motorists should be alert, slow down, expect delays in travel, watch for stopped or slow-moving vehicle, watch for lane changes, and drive with caution through the work zone.
This $11.1 million reconstruction and resurfacing project is anticipated to be completed in 2025.
