I-80 Express to be Closed and Detoured Tonight in Parsippany-Troy Hills

The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) reports that I-80 Express eastbound will be closed and detoured tonight in Parsippany-Troy Hills, Morris County. In addition, the left lane on I-80 eastbound Local will be closed just before Exit 47A at milepost 46.2.

Beginning at 10:00 p.m. tonight, Thursday, May 25, until 5:00 a.m. tomorrow, Friday, May 26, NJDOT is scheduled to close and detour the I-80 Express eastbound lanes with all traffic directed to use Exit 45 to access I-80 eastbound Local. In addition, the left lane on I-80 eastbound Local will be closed overnight just before the ramp to I-280 eastbound. The closures are necessary to make concrete deck repairs on the I-80 eastbound Bridge over Route 46. At least one lane of traffic will be maintained on I-80 eastbound Local during construction. The following detour will be in place:

I-80 Express eastbound to I-280 eastbound:

  • Motorists on I-80 Express eastbound wishing to take I-280 eastbound will be directed to
    take Exit 45 to Lake Hiawatha/Whippany, which puts traffic onto I-80 eastbound Local
    lanes
  • Continue on I-80 eastbound Local
  • Take Exit 47A to I-280/The Oranges/Newark

The work is part of a $22.6 million state-funded maintenance project to repair concrete structures at various locations in eight counties throughout North Jersey.

The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors.
