As part of the I-80/I-90 Indiana Toll Road’s ongoing 2026 pavement rehabilitation and toll plaza improvement program announced earlier this year, overnight work is now underway at the Howe Toll Plaza (Exit 121), with work at the Elkhart Toll Plaza (Exit 92) scheduled to begin on September 2.

Current Toll Plaza Closures
- Howe Toll Plaza (Exit 121)
- August 20 through October 9 (weather permitting)
- Full overnight plaza closures from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. ET
- Elkhart Toll Plaza (Exit 92)
- September 2 through October 17 (weather permitting)
- Full overnight plaza closures from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. ET
During work hours, both toll plazas will be fully closed for scheduled pavement rehabilitation and toll plaza improvements. Motorists should plan alternate routes and follow posted detours.
Additional Project Updates
The following locations remain on schedule:
- Notre Dame Toll Plaza (Exit 77): Nightly closures expected to conclude August 28
- Angola Toll Plaza (Exit 144): Nightly work expected to conclude October 9
- Eastpoint Toll Plaza: Lane restrictions expected to conclude September 30
Drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time, plan ahead for overnight travel, and use caution when traveling through active work zones.
