The Utah Department of Transportation is encouraging drivers to plan for nightly lane closures along I-80 in Parleys Canyon as crews have begun the first phase of a multi-year improvement project.
I-80 drivers can expect lane closures between 2300 East and Exit 130 each night from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
This work marks the start of several projects along I-80 that will repave 22 miles of the road, improve eight bridges, install 11 miles of fiber optic cable and upgrade nearly 50 miles of culverts.
The next phase of work is expected to begin later this summer and will include paving from Mountain Dell Reservoir to Lambs Canyon. Bridge work and other construction activities are anticipated to begin in 2027.
Most traffic impacts are currently expected to occur overnight or on weekends. Construction schedules are subject to change due to weather, equipment availability and other factors.
