I-80 Nightly Full Closure, Detour in Coralville Begins November 12

The Iowa Department of Transportation (IDOT) reports that if you drive on eastbound I-80 in Coralville you need to be aware of a construction project for the new Interstate 80 and 1st Avenue interchange that may slow down your trip.

When and Where

Construction crews need to fully close eastbound I-80 at the 1st Avenue interchange (exit 242) so bridge demolition work can take place. Eastbound I-80 will be fully closed to traffic on Sunday through Thursday nights from 11:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. nightly starting on Sunday, November 12, until Friday, December 1, weather permitting.

I-80 Detour

You will be detoured off I-80 at Exit 240 and follow a marked detour back onto eastbound I-80 at 1st Avenue (exit 242).

IDOT wants to help keep everyone on the road safer. Drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, you should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
