The Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission has announced the addition of 16 new, universal electric vehicle (EV) chargers from Applegreen Electric at the following four Ohio Turnpike (I-80) service plazas:
- Great Lakes (milepost 170.1 westbound)
- Towpath (milepost 170.1 eastbound)
- Mahoning Valley (milepost 237.2 westbound)
- Glacier Hills (milepost 237.2 eastbound).
This brings the total number of EV chargers to 96, which includes Electrify America and Tesla Superchargers.
The Ohio Turnpike’s EV charging network was established through a public-private partnership at no cost to the turnpike commission. Rates to charge an EV at the Ohio Turnpike’s service plazas are competitive with rates off the toll road.
The Ohio Turnpike’s service plazas – which are open 24-hours daily – provide travelers with numerous amenities, including vehicle refueling options, restaurants, convenience stores, well-maintained restrooms, lounge areas, and more.
