The Iowa Department of Transportation (Iowa DOT) reports that westbound I-80 between the Southwest Mixmaster and Grand Prairie Parkway (Exit 118) will close overnight from 8:30 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. nightly, beginning Sunday night, September 27, until Friday morning, October 2, weather permitting. Drivers in the area should expect delays.
Crews will close westbound I-80 including the westbound on-ramps at the Southwest Mixmaster, 60th Street (Exit 122) and Jordan Creek Parkway (Exit 121), to perform grading and concrete pavement work. During the closure, drivers should follow a marked detour route using University Avenue and Grand Prairie Parkway.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
