The Iowa Department of Transportation (IowaDOT) reports that, on Monday, March 16, weather permitting, the eastbound I-80 on-ramp at Middle Road (Exit 301) in Bettendorf will close so work can begin on the new eastbound I-80 bridge.
During this ramp closure, you will follow a marked detour route by entering westbound I-80 at the Middle Road interchange. When you arrive at the I-80/U.S. 61 interchange you will take the exit loop to southbound U.S. 61 and then take the entrance loop to eastbound I-80.
Work is currently ongoing to construct the new eastbound on-ramp that, once complete, will restore entry to eastbound I-80 at the Middle Road interchange. The new ramp is planned to open mid-to-late April, weather permitting.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
