The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is alerting motorists about an upcoming 56-hour closure of the Rocklin Road (exit 108) off-ramp along eastbound I-80 as part of the $46.1 million Auxiliary Lane and Fifth Lane Project.
The off-ramp will be closed 9:00 p.m. Friday through 5:00 a.m. Monday, June 10. During this time, crews will finish paving work, install new striping and remove temporary concrete barriers (k-rail). Additional sound wall and retaining wall construction and drainage work will also take place along eastbound I-80 between the junction with State Route 65 (SR-65) and Rocklin Road. Work on the new auxiliary lane is scheduled to be completed and open to motorists later this summer.
Motorists will also notice additional work along westbound I-80 between Douglas Boulevard and Riverside Avenue. These activities will take place behind k-rail and will not impact traffic. The schedule is subject to change due to weather, equipment or material availability, or other unexpected events.
The entire project completion is expected by the end of fall 2024. At that time, the interstate will have an auxiliary lane along on eastbound I-80 between SR-65 and Rocklin Road and include a two-lane off-ramp. A fifth lane will be constructed on westbound I-80 between Douglas Boulevard and Riverside Avenue and include reconfiguring the Douglas off-ramp from two lanes to one lane.
