The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is announcing multiple traffic changes through mid-May on I-80 westbound as part of the I-80 North Fork Bridges Project in Jefferson County.
Originally scheduled for April 27, a lane closure is now scheduled to begin at 7:00 AM on May 10, to accommodate paving operations and is expected to remain in place for approximately seven days. The lane closure will be just east of Richardville Road on I-80 westbound. During this time, there will also be a guiderail replacement on I-80 in the area of Jenks Street which will extend the lane closure through the work zone for one day.
A traffic pattern switch will be implemented immediately following the conclusion of the seven-day right lane closure. Traffic on I-80 westbound will be shifted to the right onto temporary pavement for approximately 4,000 feet to facilitate construction work in the median for a future phase of the project.
All work is weather dependent, and additional weather impacts may result in further schedule adjustments. Drivers should use caution in the work zone, follow posted speed limits, and watch for workers and equipment.
The I-80 North Fork Bridges project includes the replacement of the I-80 eastbound and westbound bridges over State Route 4003 (Jenks Street), as well as the replacement of the State Route 4005 (Richardsville Road) bridges over I-80. The project will also include the extension of the North Fork Park Culvert, which carries I-80 traffic over the tributary to North Fork Redbank Creek. It is anticipated to be completed in summer 2028.
