The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) is reminding drivers that the I-80 Wadsworth rest area is closed for an indefinite amount of time because of needed septic repairs.
The rest area on westbound I-80 near Wadsworth is closed until further notice. During the closure, the entire facility, including parking lot and RV dump station, is inaccessible to visitors.
The Wadsworth rest area was constructed around 1970. Many such buildings were constructed for a life expectancy of 20 years, after which time major building maintenance is anticipated. Many rest areas nationwide were first constructed with the Interstate Highway Act and Highway Trust Fund of 1956.
NDOT operates more than 30 rest areas across the state for the comfort and safety of the traveling public. The nearest I-80 rest area is located at the I-80/U.S. 95 junction east of Fernley.
