The Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) reports that, beginning Monday, July 10, through fall 2023, construction on the Interstate 80 (I-80), I-480, and I-680 median barrier sealing project will begin, weather permitting.
There will be intermittent overnight lane and shoulder closures along I-80, I-480 and I-680 for barrier sealing.
Construction on this project is expected to be complete by fall 2023. Sealing the concrete barriers that
separate vehicle traffic on interstates is important because they help prevent the intrusion of water, dirt,
and other debris into the barrier. Effectively sealing the barriers helps extend the lifespan of the
interstate infrastructure, reduce maintenance costs, and enhance the overall safety and durability of the
roadway system.
