The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) reminds motorists that a 55-hour closure for the southbound connector between I-80 and I-680 in Fairfield begins Friday night (July 29, 2022)
The closure will begin at 10:00 p.m. Friday and continue until 5:00 a.m. on Monday, August 1.
The upcoming work is the second part of a project to build a new connector ramp that will make lanes wider and provide safer access to Green Valley Road, said Pedro Quintana, a California Department of Transportation spokesperson.
Additionally, Eastbound State Route 12 will close from 10:00 p.m. Friday until 8:00 a.m. Saturday morning while crews continue paving and striping the new connector ramp, Quintana said.
During that closure, motorists can continue eastbound on Interstate 80 until the Chadbourne Road exit. From there they should proceed to Chadbourne Road to merge onto westbound Interstate 80 to connect to Interstate 680 during the closure.
