The Iowa Department of Transportation (IowaDOT) reports that crews need to close westbound I-80 between the Southwest Mixmaster and Grand Prairie Parkway (Exit 118) overnight from 8:30 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. starting Sunday night, November 1, until Friday morning, November 6, weather permitting. Drivers in the area should expect delays.
The closures, which include the westbound on-ramps at the Southwest Mixmaster, 60th Street (Exit 122) and Jordan Creek Parkway (Exit 121), will allow crews to perform grading and concrete pavement work. During the closures, drivers should follow a marked detour route using University Avenue and Grand Prairie Parkway, shown below.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
