I-80 Lane, Ramp Closures in Nevada Extended

Sparks, Nevada | I-80 Traffic | I-80 Construction | I-80 Exit Guide

The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) reports beginning August 21 through mid-October, drivers will see the following intermittent overnight lane and ramp closures on westbound I-80 at Lockwood:

  • Westbound I-80 lanes at Lockwood exit periodically reduced to one lane 7:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m. weekdays.
  • The Lockwood on-ramp to westbound I-80 intermittently closed between 9:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m. weekdays.
  • Nearby detours will be available during overnight ramp closures.
  • Speeds will be reduced to 55 mph through the work zone.

I-80 Ramp Closure

The Lockwood on-ramp to westbound I-80 is also planned to close throughout one full weekend in September, with the weekend ramp closure schedule provided in advance.

The Nevada Department of Transportation will extend the current Lockwood on-ramp to westbound I-80 by approximately 1,100 feet. The ramp extension will provide additional room for those traveling from Lockwood toward Reno/Sparks to more safely merge onto the interstate, as well as enhance safety and mobility for interstate drivers. A small section of westbound interstate will be widened by 10 feet to accommodate the longer ramp, and a new roadside barrier rail installed.

I-80 Traffic

As interstate traffic continues to increase between Reno/Sparks and the Reno-Tahoe Industrial Center, NDOT is also evaluating potential further interstate improvements in future years.
