In addition to a major I-80 project in Parleys Canyon reported earlier, The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) has started work on a second project in Parleys Canyon. This effort is part of a coordinated, multi-year initiative to upgrade I-80.
New I-80 Work Zone Details
- Location: Between East Canyon Road and Lambs Canyon (Exits 134–137)
- Schedule: I-80 reduced to one lane nightly from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
- Ongoing Closures: Drivers will continue to see the same one-lane restriction farther down the canyon between 2300 East and Exit 130 during identical hours.
These closures support critical repaving on a key route for Utah’s trucking industry, economy, mountain communities, and recreational traffic.
Long-Term I-80 Improvements
Over the next several years, crews will:
- Repave 22 miles of I-80
- Improve eight bridges
- Install 11 miles of fiber optic cables
- Upgrade nearly 50 miles of culverts
Plan ahead, follow posted detours, and use caution in all work zones. Project schedules may change due to weather or other factors.
