I stopped at Penny’s Diner for the first time on the way through Rawlins last week. I was looking for something other than fast food and this place seemed like a good stop.
It’s one of those classic 1950’s style diners, inside and out. It looks original but in fact it’s a small chain of restaurants located throughout the country (about 30 restaurants total). That said, it’s still “mom & popish” in my book.
I was there for breakfast… and I wasn’t disappointed. Plenty of comfort food to choose from. I had their “Hearty Breakfast”, 2 slices of bacon, 2 sausage patties, 2 eggs your way, hash browns and 2 pancakes. All for about $10. Not bad. Good portions, hot and fresh and reasonably priced.
Service was good, the staff was friendly and the restaurant was clean and well maintained.
I don’t pass through Rawlins that frequently, but I will keep this place in mind next time through, I recommend it!
