The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is alerting motorists of an upcoming extended connector and on-ramp closure for the ongoing Yolo I-80 and U.S. Highway 50 Pavement Rehabilitation Project. The mainline between the I-80/US 50 connector ramp to Reed Avenue will be fully closed through Monday, May 12 and then reduced to two lanes during the day and fully closed nightly from Monday, May 12 through Wednesday, May 21.
Construction work will include a full closure of eastbound I-80 after crossing the Eastbound I-80 Yolo Causeway from Davis going toward Reed Avenue in West Sacramento. Caltrans urges motorists to plan for additional travel time, to expect delays and use the designated detour route.
Ongoing pavement replacement and striping work will continue for Eastbound I-80 and US 50 in West Sacramento.
I-80 Scheduled Closure:
- Eastbound I-80 connector ramp to Eastbound Reed Avenue, westbound US 50 connector ramp to Eastbound I-80, Enterprise on-ramp to Eastbound I-80 and Eastbound I-80 to Reed Avenue off-ramp
- 55-hour full closure -From 9:00 p.m. Friday, May 9 through 4:00 a.m. Monday, May 12
- Nightly full closures – From 9:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. Monday, May 12 to Sunday, May 18 and 11:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. Monday, May 19 to Wednesday, May 21
I-80 Detour for Closure:
- Eastbound I-80 traffic will be detoured to Eastbound US 50 to Sacramento over the Sacramento River to northbound I-5 to Redding (Exit 4A), to eastbound I-80 to Reno (Exit 522).
- From Westbound US 50, take Enterprise Boulevard off-ramp (Exit 81) and stay left, continue Enterprise to Industrial Avenue (left turn at light) continue Industrial to Harbor Boulevard (left at light) for Eastbound US 50 to Sacramento (Exit 82), continue over the Sacramento River to northbound I-5 to Redding (Exit 4A), to eastbound I-80 to Reno (Exit 522).
- The work zone is from the Yolo Causeway through West Sacramento on I-80 and US 50. The speed limit has been reduced to 55 miles per hour 24/7 for the safety of workers and motorists. Work is scheduled to begin as listed but subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather conditions, availability of equipment and/or materials, and construction-related issues.
The extended lane closures will help to minimize the duration of the work and improve workers’ safety.
