If you drive on westbound I-80 in Iowa you need to be aware of an asphalt pavement project that may impact your trip. This project is part of the preliminary work for a much larger construction project set to begin next year.
Construction crews will close the westbound entrance and exit ramps on westbound I-80 (exit 254) nightly from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. on Sunday through Thursday nights beginning on Wednesday, October 25 until Friday morning, November 3, weather permitting.
While the westbound I-80 exit ramp is closed you will travel west on I-80 and exit at the Herbert Hoover Highway (exit 249). You will then use the third roundabout exit to get onto westbound Herbert Hoover Highway and then use the third roundabout exit to get onto eastbound I-80 and then travel to exit 254.
When the westbound I-80 entrance ramp is close you will enter eastbound I-80 at exit 254. You will then exit at 259, turn left, and then use the westbound I-80 entrance ramp to resume travel on westbound I-80.
Help keep everyone on the road safer. Drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, you should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
