On a recent roadtrip, traveling I-80 I pulled off in Rockaway and stumbled upon the Hibernia Diner. Honestly, stopping here was the best decision of the trip. Right away, it hits you with that classic, cozy Jersey diner vibe-nothing overly pretentious, just a super clean, nostalgic spot filled with locals and a warm energy that makes you feel instantly at home the second you walk through the door.
The menu was absolutely huge, but after hours on the road, I went straight for the comfort food and ordered a stack of pancakes, a side of bacon, and a plate of fries. The food came out fast, piping hot, and the portions were surprisingly generous. My coffee cup was never empty either, thanks to a great server who kept the refills coming without me even having to ask.
Hibernia Diner was the perfect pit stop: reasonable prices, hearty food, and quick service. If you’re driving along I-80 through Northern Jersey, do yourself a favor and take the exit-you won’t regret it!
